Climb Aboard the Mars Blueberry!
New Zealand’s only inflatable spaceship disguised as a planetarium.
She’s round. She’s blue. She looks like a giant cosmic blueberry. And once you step inside, your junior astronauts are launched on a live 20-minute mission across the Universe – planets, galaxies, the origins of life, and that all-important question: Are we alone?
The Mars Blueberry Astrobiology Dome is not your average planetarium visit. There are no scripts, no pre-recorded voiceovers, and definitely no boring bits. Just Hari and Sam – one’s an astrobiologist who trained at NASA and studies Mars, the other’s an astrophysicist with a telescope obsession – answering all the wild space questions kids can dream up.
Since 2022, they’ve brought the Blueberry to over 200 schools and events, and welcomed more than 38,000 Earthlings through the airlock. That’s a lot of stardust and shoe scuffs.
So if your tamariki are curious about space (or just want to lie on their backs and look at stars indoors), the Mars Blueberry is your go-to orbit.
Warning: May cause sudden outbreaks of curiosity, giggling, and a lifelong love of science.
P.S. At least one grown-up must accompany their little group of explorers – space can be unpredictable.
